"Together we learn and grow."

We are very proud of our newly launched 'creative curriculum.' We believe that to achieve high standards the curriculum that we offer must be relevant to the needs, abilities and interests of our children and reflect the way that they learn best. It must also reflect the 'uniqueness' of our school community. Please click the icon below for an overview of our curriculum.
If you want to find out about our curriculum in more detail, please pop into the office, give us a call, or speak to any of the class teachers.
We considered 4 curriculum 'drivers' when planning our curriculum. They are ACTIVE LEARNING, TAKING RISKS, PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING and AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING. These 4 threads can be seen throughout our work and reflect what we believe to be the priorities for our children. If you click the icon below you will find out a bit more about ways in which these 'drivers' are built into our teaching.
Our Sport Provision
We are very lucky to have a large field that we can use for P.E. and Sport. We also have significant playground space, and a hall with gymnastic equipment. We will be using our Sport Premium funding to further improve our outdoor facilities in the coming year. We are able to make use of the swimming pool at Wells Leisure Centre for organised swimming lessons. These are subsidised for children who recieve the pupil premium.
We run a number of sporting after school clubs throughout the year, including football, cricket, rugby and multi-skills. We regularly take part in sporting festivals with other local schools, and have had considerable success of late with our various sporting teams.
Promoting British Values
Wookey Primary School is committed to serving its community. We recognise the multi-cultural, multi-faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom.
We are dedicated to preparing our children for their adult life beyond the formal examined curriculum and to ensuring that we promote and reinforces British values to.
The Government emphasises that schools are required to ensure that key ‘British Values’ are taught in all UK schools. The government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy.

As well as sporting clubs we are able to run a number of more creative after school clubs during the week. On Thursdays we have Glee Club for our singers for example, and on Fridays we have iPad club. Have a look at some of the stop motion videos we made at iPad club recently using the 'Lego Movie Maker App'.
Have a look at this slideshow of pictures taken during our most recent 'Science Day' at Wookey Primary School, which reflects our dedication to 'active learning' described above.
