Many of you will be aware that we have a school council, but I thought I should share with you what the school council actually does.
The group meets termly with Mrs Treneman, and each meeting has a specific focus which is agreed by the staff beforehand. The focus of the meeting is closely tied into strategic school improvement issues. Each school council member is expected to get the views of their class on the chosen issue and bring them to the meeting to discuss.
After the meeting Mrs Treneman will collate everything that has been discussed and bring this to a staff meeting. This might take a couple of weeks, but we do value the views of our school council and we do act upon them. At the staff meeting when the school council is discussed we look at their views and incorporate them into the process of school improvement that we are constantly engaged in.
We would love to do everything that the school council suggests, but if we did our budget would very quickly disappear! When we have decided how we are going to use the views of the council Mrs Treneman will feed them back to the children at the next meeting.
As we have completed this process for the first meeting of the year we now have some news to share with you. If you visit the school council page you will be able to read all about it.
